What's Up Weekend One: Fresh Meat 7 in Heaven

Fresh Meat 7 is coming up real fast. We’re so stoked about our new Pay-What-You-Choose Thursdays, our amazing lineup of shows, our scintillating hosts, and the amazing bevvies we’ve got to keep the good times flowing. Let’s get to it.

Pay-What-You-Choose Thursdays at Fresh Meat.

First off, we’ve changed things around a bit at this year’s festival. As part of our ongoing efforts to make Fresh Meat as accessible as possible, this year all tickets sold in-person at the door on Thursday nights will be Pay-What-You-Choose. That’s right, all of ‘em.

And it really is for you to choose. We want you to consciously decide what the ticket value is for you, and more importantly, what works for you. $20 General Admission and $15 Student tickets will still be available for Friday & Saturday nights.

HOSTS:

Thursday October 11: APLOMBUSRHOMBUS (Madeleine Hall & Mitchel Rose)

Veterans of the Fresh Meat stage, the award-winning creators and performers of Ethel, Cardinal, Folie, “OH NO!” Said the Parrot, and more, Madeleine Hall & Mitchel Rose make up Aplombusrhombus. They company’s name is as difficult to spell as they are fun to watch.

They are both yogis, animal lovers, givers of great hugs, and have trained in the Lecoq and Gaullier method of clown, respectively. They can now add “Fresh Meat Hosts” to their long list of accolades, including Prix Rideau Award noms. No biggie.

Friday October 12: Jacqui Du Toit

Jacqui is a professional actress, storyteller, arts educator, and rad person. She is the Co-Owner of The Origin Arts and Community Centre. She performs theatre, dance and African storytelling with her company 8th Generation Storytelling, across Canada and South Africa. Seriously. How cool is she?

You may have caught Jacqui in Skeleton Key Theatre’s Swan River this fall, and she’ll be performing in the Great Canadian Theatre Company’s Drowning Girls in just a few weeks. We’re lucky to have her with us at Fresh Meat, and straight up amazed she found the time to come and host.

Saturday October 13: Toasted Theatre (Amanda Logan & Lauren Cauchy)

You might know them from their Fringe hits Chocolate Cake or Lauren & Amanda Do It. Or from their Fresh Meat creation Badges. Or their smashing Toasted Trivia Nights at LIVE! On Elgin. Point is you should know them. Toasted Theatre rules.

Co-Founders Amanda Logan & Lauren Cauchy will be joining us to help finish off Weekend 1 of the festival with a bang. Bring your chuckles, these two are always a hoot.
