Got some extra pocket money this week and feel like leaving a generous donation, or even covering the ticket price for a friend? Well have we got a Pay-What-You-Choose Thursday for YOU!
Reminder that all all tickets sold in-person at the door on Thursday nights were Pay-What-You-Choose and $20 General Admission and $15 Student tickets will still be available for Friday & Saturday nights.
Thursday, Oct 17: Maryse Malazdrewicz Fernandes
Maryse Malazdrewicz Fernandes is an Ottawa based actor, physical theatre performer, clown, and writer. She was a dramatic arts student at Canterbury High School and went on to attend the acting programme at the National Theatre School of Canada. She has worked with numerous local theatre companies, including Odyssey Theatre and Cart Before the Horse. She has also participated as an artist in the Ottawa Tactics Series, Fresh Meat 7, Undercurrents Festival, and The Magnetic North Theatre Festival. When Maryse is not onstage, she can be found boogieing in her kitchen, crossing the street to pet your dog, and collaborating with Ottawa's Aplombusrhombus on upcoming creations.
Friday, Oct 18: Alan Shain
Alan Shain is a multidisciplinary, independent disability artist based in Ottawa. He began his career in stand-up comedy, but rapidly expanded his performance repertoire to also include dance, theatre and storytelling. He has performed across Canada and the US, as well as in England, Australia and Taiwan. He has been performing for more than 20 years.
His artistic vision is to disrupt the normalization of impairment through daring artistic innovation in both content and form. His artistic practice promotes counter-cultural perspectives of "the disability experience". His artistic reputation is built on pushing artistic, cultural and political boundaries.
Saturday, Oct 19: Alli Harris
Alli Harris is an actor, musician and comedian living in Ottawa. Most recently, Alli composed the original music for Company of Fools production of Romeo and Juilet. Alli received two Prix Rideau awards (Emerging Artist and Best New Work) for her solo-musical-comedy High School High. She also mixed and created the music for No More Mr. Rice Guy for the first weekend of Fresh Meat!
Alli's solo musical Christmas album is dropping December 15th on all platforms, and you can see her premiere her album, opening for Mike Delamont's God Is A Scottish Drag Queen December 15th at Arts Court! Alli is also a part of Uproar which is a Ottawa based multi-disciplinary dedicated to uplifting voices of female identifying and non-binary artists, Applications are open in the new year, so keep your eyes peeled!
