Created and Performed by Ludmylla Reis

In this part Brecht, part Autoethnography, part algorithm, part manifest and fully theatrical adaptation of Antigone, we cast the audience as a living chorus that votes online carrying us into a new democratic arena.

Genesis of the Show:

The first half of this piece got to me in 2019, when I really wanted to create a piece where the audience had to vote during the show. Unfortunately, I do not remember what happened then that made me obsessed with the format, but since then I wanted to bring this often private experience to a public space. Finally, in 2022 while doing research for another work I once again got to study Antigone as a character, and both curiosities aligned. I believe her story and our collective - and conflicting - understandings of her could be a great way to explore this format.
