In Dance. Dance. Revitalized, Melody must make a choice: stay in the small but sure past where she will always have someone to dance with, or return to her lonely present, where the future of DDR is not so certain.

Genesis of the Show:

Dance Dance Revitalize (Stage Edition) is a love letter to the small but mighty DDR/rhythm game community and a commentary on how relying on nostalgia suffocates the chances for a better future.

We often find ourselves in a state of isolation, wanting to go back in time to “the good old days”. What exactly was good about those days? Is our current present so terrible there’s nothing left for the future? What is the push we need to start caring for tomorrow?

In my rhythmic adventure the main characters are faced with that very predicament, all showcased though dance, drama, disco lights and breaking high-scores.

I want this show to spark conversation about preserving third spaces such as libraries, theatres, and after-school clubs; their importance in providing safe inclusive spaces for people to socialize, building friendships, and being themselves is crucial, now more than ever.

Glency Victoria Lopez

Glency Victoria Lopez (She/Her) is a multidisciplinary artist with skills in musical theatre, contemporary theatre, lighting design, and scriptwriting. She has been involved in numerous productions as a theatre technician at the Ottawa Fringe and hopes to continue her journey in bringing Canadian original works to life. Kat Derikx

Kat Derikx (She/Her) is in her last year in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Ottawa with a Minor in Psychology. Kat is also a member of the 100 Watt Youth Ensemble. You can find her on Instagram @kit_katastrophe.

Colin Sweeney

Colin Sweeney (He/Him) is an Algonquin College graduate who is excited to get back on the stage. In his free time, he enjoys many things, including Hockey, Pokémon, Golf, Longboarding, and trying new things with his friends. He also sings with the Ellison Canadian Honour Choir once a year in various cities, as well as touring with The Lake Garda Festival in Italy in 2026. You can find him on Instagram @colin_sween.
