Quest is a fantasy show that combines radio play-style audio with striking physical theatre to tell the tale of heroes fighting beasts and defeating evil.

Genesis of the Show:

The idea was ignited by playing Dungeons and Dragons (and a deep desire to play with swords). The two of us met working in theatre and discovered we were both DND players, then we assembled a small group and played. Then we got talking about how the kind of stories we get to play in games, stories with wizards and mythical beasts, and unlikely heroes facing villains, are stories that we don’t see that often in theatre. We also thought using audio allows the audience to use their imagination, so for us this kind of story, and this style of theatre seemed like a great fit.

Ian McMullen

Ian is an energetic and thoughtful actor and theatre maker from the East Coast. Raised in New Brunswick, he completed a B.A. in Drama at Mount Allison University in 2015. While studying at MtA Ian was active in all aspects of theatre, but found a passion for, and subsequently specialized in collective creations. Ian has been onstage many times with many companies in Ottawa, and his favourite is Mr. Tumnus in 9th-Hour Theatre production of The Lion the Witch, and the Wardrobe in 2023. Ian is also a long time DND player, currently a 8th level Warlock.

Sarah McKay

Sarah is an Ottawa based actor and collaborative theatre creator who has been working in the region since 2023. A relative newcomer to the local theatre scene, she has been eagerly taking on roles. Whether onstage acting, backstage assistant stage managing, or front of house at GCTC and OLT, she spends her days doing all things theatre. She also dabbles in singing, dance, and playwriting. In her current campaign, Sarah is a level 3 Ranger.
